It's so funny ICC is pursuing arrest warrant of Col. Gaddafi but not of Americans who killed hundred of thousands civilians all over the world. Iraq , Afghanistan , Drone Attacks on Pakistan which killed so many civilians, support to Israel where civilians are being killed for so many years.
It will be much more fair if they start from USA . Then people will trust their credibility.
ICC rules and regulations as well international law regarding crime against humanity are developing matters. They use precedents and UN discussion and decisions.
If ICC would have some credits and be able to request crimes against humanity arrest warrants for Chaney, Bush, Blair, Saakashvili in chronological order, and if ICC were dealing with those criminals in time – there would be no needs for Gaddafi warrant, there actually would be no NFZ, no Libyan people killing, no barbaric Live Target Libyan Air Show at all.
Justice is equal accountability; otherwise it is just banal colonization tool.
Leaving Chaney, Bush, Blair, Saakashvili with no prosecution actualy open the World to the Pandora of War.
Leaving Chaney, Bush, Blair, Saakashvili with no prosecution actualy open the World to the Pandora of War.
ICC and UN should take this issue seriously, and perhaps reform or dissolve ICC altogether. As for now - striking feature of ICC is a thorough avoidance of western leaders’ and their puppets crimes, which position this institution as just another intimidation mechanism for sovereign country colonization.
My simple question here is…. Have they got and/or issued ICC for President Bashir of Sudan , the North Korean President Kim Il Song, the Chinese leadership, Burma 's Generals, Yemen President, President Mugabe, King of Bahrain etc etc?
Where are the arrest warrants for Bashar al-Assad in Syria and King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa in Bahrain . There should be at least another dozen warrants waiting for the Saudi leaders.
ICC like all the other international institutions (UN Security Council, WTO, IMF, OEDC etc) are ALL under the control of the US and its NATO allies and work to the US/Western agenda.
The killing of Osama bin Laden and, only a few days before, the killing of one of Colonel Gaddafi's sons and three of his grandchildren by Nato (in an attack which apparently was targeting Gaddafi himself) raises fundamental questions. Is it ever right to execute our enemies, or should they always be tried for the crimes of which they stand accused? What if there is a possibility of striking a deal that would put an end to their crimes, but would leave past wrongs unpunished and allow the perpetrator to enjoy a comfortable retirement?
That would be all well and good if it were true, however since there was no slaughter or killing of Lybian civilians by Gaddafi or anyone else before we started bombing them then just what is the so called NFZ meant to be doing.
From my understanding there has not been a single Lybian fighter plane in the air from day one but yet we continue to attack infrastructure, hospitals and government buildings. All the things the Lybian people need to protect them from the terrorists that are attcking them with the full suppport of NATO.
What is happening in Lybia is a travesty and brings shame on the west for attacking another defenceless country, murdering women and children and handing over another country to criminals and gangsters.
This is so far beyond the surreal as to be nightmarish: those responsible for the crimes of Fallujah and Jenin, for the attack on Lebanon in 2006 and the Gaza massacres, are not even considered. They, on the contrary, are baying for Libyan blood.
The sooner this Court, Hyporisy's best hope and emblem, is wound up and closed down, the better it will be for all.
The ICC is a sockpuppet of the big western powers that dominate the Security Council. The only reason why Ocampo is engaged in in this witch hunt against yet another African country is because this is what the NATO powers want him to do. Ocampo himself has lot all credibility with his false allegations against Sudan 's head of state, who rather than orchestrating killings in his country has actually worked hard to bring about a peaceful resolution in the conflict in Darfur . Claiming to transcend national laws and boundaries established by democratic procedures, the ICC is a troublesome actor that threatens peace and security around the world.
ICC has no legitimacy or credibility. If Ocampo is so concerned about human rights abuses, then he would have investigated the atrocities committed by NATO forces against Libya , including the use of depleted uranium, the killing of civilians, the targeting of Libya 's infrastructure, and so on. If the ICC were not a puppet of the western powers, then arrest warrants for the wars of aggression against Iraq and Afghanistan would have been issued. Instead, ICC goes after whomever Washington and its partners want. Libya is not even under the jurisdiction of so-called ICC, and anything Ocampo claims to have done against the country is worthless.
March it passed resolution 1973 which authorised "all necessary measures" to protect Libyan civilians, interpreted by some to authorise the targeting of Gaddafi.
"All necessary measures" can be stretched by you people that would justify the use of nuclear weapons on Tripoli . Such truly grotesque manipulation of the law.
In early March he concluded that it was: there were "reasonable grounds to believe that crimes against humanity have been and are being committed in Libya "; no genuine national investigation was taking place; and the situation was grave, including "systematic" shootings and war crimes committed "as a matter of policy"
Professor Alan Kuperman said that there is no evidence linking Gaddafi to abuse against civilians:
“Civilians are caught in the middle,” he said. “We didn’t stop a bloodbath but we are prolonging and perpetuating the suffering of civilians in Libya.” He argued that Gaddafi is targeting rebel fighters. There was never a bloodbath of civilians at the hands of Gaddafi....“If Gaddafi were trying to massacre civilians there would be thousands killed, not a couple hundred killed,” Kuperman remarked. Gaddafi said he would show no mercy to rebels, he did not speak about civilians. He even said rebel fighters who laid down their arms and surrendered would receive mercy, explained Kuperman. “He made clear would not target civilians,” he said. “Obama exaggerated the threat."
And other independent investigators have confirmed that there is no evidence that Gaddafi's forces have attacked civilians in western Libya.
Now My heart goes out to the Lybian people and my contempt for those cheering on the murder of innocents knows no bounds
